For over three decades Earth River has been an industry leader having discovered such classics as; Patagonia Chile’s Futaleufu, Quebec’s Magpie and Peru’s Yavero. Chile rafting was in its infancy when we made the first complete raft descent of the Futaleufu in 1991. Besides Earth River’s extensive body of river exploration work, the company’s 30 year reputation has been built upon running high quality trips, whitewater safety innovation and dedication to international river conservation.

Founded in 1989 by Eric Hertz and Troy Harrison, Earth River is a family owned and run business. Troy and Eric run the office and their two sons; Cade and Teal, are an integral part of the company’s elite guide team.

“The Earth River Futaleufu trip is an astonishment. There was an incredible variety to the week, the amazing camps, all different from one another, but all surprisingly and ingeniously comfortable—from the Arcadian, lost-Boys hideaway at Cave Camp, to the soaring views at the Cliff Camp, to the truly fantastical dwellings up in the canopy of the forest of the Tree House Camp—the food and hot tubs were great. The absolute mastery of Robert Currie guiding in the back of the raft-made every element of the river seem heightened, perfected, colorized, almost virtual. “
