The James Bay region of northern Quebec
is a magnificent wilderness under siege from hydro-electric development. As guests of the
Wahapmagoostui Band of the Cree nation, we run one of their beautiful threatened rivers,
sleep in tepees under the magical pulsing light of aurora borealis, share native American
customs and learn first hand of their struggle for survival. Beluga whales, caribou, wolf
and rare fresh water seal all inhabit the area. |
