DAY 9: MACAS/ QUITO / OTAVALO
The morning is free to explore this small frontier town. In the early afternoon we
transfer to the airport for the flight back to Quito. In Quito we board a bus and travel 2
hours into the Andes Mountains to Otavalo where we spend the night
in a lovely hotel. Otavalo is a beautiful Ecuadorian city in the heart of the mountains
with a wonderful native South American ambiance. Dinner is at a restaurant with an Andean
band.
DAY 10: OTAVALO
Today we visit the most extensive artisans market in South America and perhaps the world. Practically every
type of native handicraft is available from jewelry, sweaters and paintings, to beautiful
wall hangings and rugsall at very low prices. (We suggest people bring an extra duffel bag
to pack their purchases.) We have a farewell dinner and spend the night at the hotel.
DAY 11: OTAVALO / QUITO /
UNITED STATES
Early this morning we board the bus for the 2 hour drive back to the airport in Quito
where we transfer to our flight back to the United States.
