Dear
Traveler,
Thank you for your interest in Earth River Expeditions.
Earth River takes people to some of the wildest and most
remote places in the world. Using rivers as our primary
means of transportation allows us to reach wonderful places
beyond the boundaries of normal travel.
As a leader in international river exploration for the past
decade, we have pioneered commercial rafting on many of
the world's classic rivers: Patagonia, Chile's Futaleufu,
Peru's Colca through the deepest canyon on earth, Tibet's
culturally exotic Upper Yangtze, the mystical Himalayan
Po Tsangpo and China's nearly two mile deep Great Bend of
the Yangtze.
Earth River personally runs every trip listed in our brochure
and therefore controls the quality and safety of our expeditions.
We have pioneered a number of safety techniques currently
being employed on challenging rivers like the Futaleufu
which include a full training day and the use of safety
catarafts. We owe our impeccable safety record to this innovative
approach and our world class guides, who are among the most
qualified in the business, averaging 15 years of experience.
The Rio Futaleufu is Earth River's trademark trip. Our 3
exclusive camps totaling over 1,500 wild private acres offer
our clients a continuous, top-to-bottom, wilderness journey
complete with gorgeous private lakes for swimming and kayaking,
riverside hot tubs formed from natural pot holes in the
stone, spectacular hand-hewn tree houses for sleeping that
rest 35 feet high in the canopy of an old growth forest.
The cave camp's exotic stone shelters- with natural sky
lights, sand floors and fireplaces, remain warm and dry
in case of inclement weather. The renowned Earth River challenge
cirque with its cliff jump, tyrolean traverse, zip line,
granite tower climb and rappel is often mentioned as the
highlight of the trip.
For more information on the Futaleufu, Earth River and our
other expeditions, please continue to browse our award winning
web site. The site is comprehensive and includes expedition
itineraries, gorgeous photographs and a library with Earth
River features from National Geographic, Conde Nast Traveler,
American Way (American Airlines Magazine), Sunday Boston
Globe, Outside Magazine, Men's Journal and National Geographic
Adventure, among others. Please call or e-mail us if you
have any questions and we hope you will be able to join
us in the future.
Sincerely,
Eric Hertz
President
